You guys don't even know the kind of torture it was to not be able to blog these images for a couple months!! The worst kind of torture!!!

We had looked forward to Kelsey's bridal session ever since we shot her engagement session with Brian, here. They were just way too easy to photograph, and Kelsey...well...one of our first questions to her was..."do you watch america's next top model?!?!"

haha, regardless of her modeling skills, this girl is beautiful! and she made the most gorgeous bride!

Blog friends!!

Hope you all had a wonderful new year!! Our year is starting off perfect, spending time with friends, traveling, and of course getting ready for our first wedding of 2010!!

We have been out of town and on the go for the past few weeks, and it's not stopping anytime soon! Our wedding this weekend is in Austin, and then we get back home with just enough time to get a little work done before we head over to California for another wedding and then a short vacation just the two of us!!

2009 was by far the best year of my life...so far! :)
Got to start working full time my dream job, married the man of my dreams surrounded by some amazing family and friends, and even graduated college!!
But even with all those amazing things happening, we're so excited to see what all is in store for us in 2010!
The next time I post, we are hoping that it will be from our new blog...and hopefully I will have more time to think about what I am actually saying and include some fun pictures!! But we sure do appreciate your patience and even more for your support!! Our clients, blog readers, family and friends are absolutely the best and we would be nothing without you all!!!
Anybody got any good new years resolutions?!

I'm bad at blogging.

There, I said it.
And I'll be honest, It's not really that I've been too busy- (I mean I have been busy...) but it's just that... I'd rather watch a movie with my husband, or try and cook dinner (because I'm even worse at that), or read a book (because I haven't given myself time for that in a LONG time...) or work really hard on finalizing details for all the new stuff that's coming.

I've already begun making a New Year's resolution list, and man oh man is it a LONG one... Sheesh, who knew I had so much improving to do to my life?! Haha!

Anyway, I had the absolute pleasure of second shooting a wedding for the lovely Mrs. Strebeck this weekend. You can head on over to her blog to see even more awesomeness from this wedding.
This couple was truly an inspiration, and their wedding ceremony was as Brittany put it, one of the most God Glorifying ceremonies I've ever been too. It was absolutely wonderful.

Today is my big sister's birthday!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYNDSAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If any of you have grown up with siblings, you know the ups and downs you go through. You basically hate each other when you are little, can't stand each other, get on each others' nerves, and then you grow up and realize just how special it is to have someone there-that will love you, be there for you, and do all the girly stuff with you... (at least for sisters...) :)

I was THAT younger sister. Always wanting to do what she was doing, hang out with her when she had friends over, follow her around like a little puppy dog, make her take me places when she could drive and I couldn't. :) Can't you just imagine how LOVEABLE I was!! haha

Regardless, she was there. Loving me, protecting me, teaching me, and being an example for me. Lyndsay is the kind of person that will do ANYTHING for someone else. Her heart is bigger than the great state of Texas...or something like that, and I'm just so very lucky to have someone like her to look up to.

Anyway, just wanted to wish her a happy birthday today and tell her Thanks for being...well...awesome! :) And if you know her, you should too!

Among other fun stuff that we did while we were in Illinois for Thanksgiving, we got to have some fun shooting some senior pictures for one of Aric's cousins! Small town Illinois has some awesome character and fun backdrops to shoot! :) While everyone else thought nothing of it, Aric & I were in love with the super tall corn stalks that were everywhere. I mean, what a perfect backdrop?!... I guess we can understand- last week before we left we shot a beautiful bridal session and she wanted to take a few shots in the middle of her Dad's cotton field. Holy Smokes! Those were the coolest bridal pictures of all time, garaunteed! Seriously.
Anyway, back to Bre- she totally rocked it out for her session and braved the freezing cold (at least in my opinion) in a dress and short sleeve t-shirts. She was a trooper!
She was also our first 2010 senior! Which means...its time to start booking senior sessions!! Don't wait till April to do it! This year we will be having a cutoff deadline so start thinking about your senior pictures NOW! :)

Wow, already back from Thanksgiving vacation!! It was wonderful, but it sure does feel good to be back and getting back to work...AND getting ready for Christmas!!!! So awesome!! Aric & I hung our stockings, decorated a little, and had our first fire of the season! It was wonderful!!

Anyway, last week before we left we had so much fun hanging out with Melissa and Paul for their engagement session!! They are some die hard Texas Tech fans and had one of the most unique engagement stories we have ever heard! The more unique the better!! :)
And I'll just warn you before the pictures start-you might wanna get your shades out, because these two are HOT!... :)

So if you've been following our blog for any time at all, then you will know just how special these two are to us. and I could talk for days about them, and all the reasons we love them, but instead I'm gonna focus on one thing that I noticed while we were shooting some fun family pictures for them. And that one thing is...they are in love. Real, Honest, Selfless, True Love. They are laughing constantly, cracking jokes, having fun, supporting each other, enjoying life... And still after a few years of marriage they look at each other like no else exists...

Aric & I are truly blessed. To have friends, and family who are such incredible examples of love. Constant reminders to love and laugh harder.

So without any further ado, here are the Strebecks- Jordan & Brittany (and sweet little Deuce the laberdoodle) and just a few quick edits I finished before we left for Chicago early this morning!! I'll probably want to show you guys some more when I get back...they are just too cute together...

Paige & Scotty had a beautiful wedding this past weekend at the Mid-Cities Church in Midland, TX. Their wedding was extra special to me for a few reasons.
1.- Paige and Scotty are just awesome. period.
2.- This was the very first wedding I (Casey) shot by myself without Aric!
and 3. The beautiful, wonderful, talented, sweet...did I mention beautiful and talented? Brittany Strebck came along to help me out, calm my nerves during formals, let me borrow her equipment, teach me a few things, and just make the day that much more enjoyable!
The day was flawless. Paige kept saying..."Everything is perfect, it's just how I always dreamed it would be..." But then again... how could everthing not be perfect when it's your wedding day...and you're marrying the man of your dreams...

Last Friday, Aric & I took a day trip up to Midland to meet with Carmen & Charlie-and then have a nice date afterward! ;)
These two-were FUN! They had awesome ideas, props, and even...COSTUMES?!?! seriously. it was a good time.
They are our kind of couple- they've traveled all over the world, lived in 3rd world countries, and have aspirations of doing it again. So awesome!

This past weekend we had a PERFECT day for a wedding at the oldest church in Lubbock, TX! This was our second wedding at St. Paul's Chapel and we have just fallen in love with this little chapel! :)
This is just part 1 of maybe 2 OR 3 posts... Nick & Heather set asides so much time for pictures on their wedding day that we almost didn't know what to do with ourselves!! It was perfect! (which is why there are so many pictures to share!!) :)
and you know how we love to share pictures...
Have we mentioned how much we love working with Jill, from Eat, Drink and Be Merry?! Well we do...and she did an amazing job yet again with this wedding! Definitely give her a call if you're looking for help planning your big day! She's the best!

girls dreams | random

I feel like all we have been shooting lately is BRIDALS!! which I have come to love-but man, it's no fun that I can't show you guys anything until after their weddings!
I do, however, promise that you are in for a treat-our brides are supermodels! Fearless, adventurous, beautiful, supermodels!
I was hanging out with my family this past weekend for Halloween-and it was the first time I had gotten to see my little cousins all dressed up in their halloween costumes. We had a ladybug, a fairy princess, and none other than Darth Vader himself. It was such a joy to see those girls hopping and twirling around in their little princess costumes. They felt beautiful and elegant, and they were absolutely on top of the world.
It just reminded me of another reason why I love being a part of weddings so much. Because as a girl-you always dream of being the princess, of wearing the white dress, and the flowing veil, but most of all you dream of being beautiful. Of finding that one person who makes you feel more beautiful than ever. It was a reminder that dreams do come true, that the Lord is faithful, and that little girls deserve to dream and dream big!
So since I don't have any bridal pictures to show you just yet-I snapped this picture of our little ladybug as she was twirling around and around in her costume and it inspired me to dream...

Aric & I have made an executive business decision to really only post wedding, engagement, bridal, and senior pictures online. Why? Well, because that's what we are good at, that's what we love to shoot. We are in no way professionals when it comes to shooting families, kids, babies... we just haven't been quite as interested in those types of shoots as we have been in weddings. So we will leave the family stuff up to the other professionals, but just this once I had to share. Aric was in Austin this weekend for a bachelor party for one of his close friends, so I went home to Ft. Worth to see my family and go trick or treating with my little cousins!
And to add a cherry on top of my trip-my Aunt put aside some time for me to practice a little with the whole "family picture" thing. ;)
It was so much fun.
Sure there might have been a meltdown or two?, I might not have been able to get a 2 yr old's hands out of her mouth, and of course Dad might have been over taking pictures after the first click of the shutter-but overall, it was fantastic.
These little ones hold a special place in my heart-they are the first babies I've actually gotten to see grow up! And they are such a joy in my life.
Not to mention-they are the cutest kids you will ever...and yes i mean EVER lay your eyes on. (no, I'm totally not biased!)

First, I want to start off by saying a big THANK-YOU for everyone who gave their input on the "pop quiz" below. You can never really know what we're up to over here sometimes-but I do promise that your input helped us our immensely! we love you guys so much-everyone who supports us, encourages us, blogstalks us and so on! You guys are the reason that we get to keep doing what we love to do-and for that we are forever grateful!

Now on to heather & mike's wedding! It was the most serene and wonderfuly cloudy day here in Lubbock-not too hot, not too cold. It was perfect.
Throughout the wedding planning process Heather had asked us several times about doing the "first look". She couldn't decide, she was nervous about it, she didn't want it to be wrong. So we talked her through it, telling her all along that it was up to her and we were okay with whatever decision she made. She finally decided on doing the first look-and I don't think she could have made a better decision- all morning long she was a little nervous about everything, and the second she saw Mike it all went away. We took the two of them off for some fun portraits, and Aric asked her how she felt-and her response was- "I'm not nervous at all anymore!"

to be honest-this wedding has been a bit overwhelming for me. we took about 3 times as many pictures that we normally take for a wedding-and because I love so many of the images I can't seem to make myself part with any.

as you all should know-aric & i have a special place in our hearts for destination weddings. we think they are wonderful. perfect. the best idea anyone ever had for a wedding. ;)

as we are rebranding and building our portfolio-we are doing so in order to cater our business more toward destination weddings and destination brides.

It's funny how things sometimes just work out...
We had planned Erin & Tanner's engagement session for the weekend that we were supposed to be going to the balloon fiesta-so we got everything rescheduled and it couldn't have worked out better for the both of us!
Aric & I got to go to the balloon fiesta in Albuquerque, see his family, and learn to play spades with his grandparents. And instead of a drizzly, cold day for their engagement session- Erin & Tanner got a beautiful fall day.

okay, so i realize that our wedding is like old news now. but i get to relive it every single day with our wedding photos and yes-i do look at my wedding pictures every single day. (at least i have so far) :)
anyway, I never got to talk about some of the details we had to make our wedding that much more special so I wanted to offer a fun alternative to all you brides out there for cake toppers! :)
Aric and I MADE our own...from scratch! :) well from clay. but you know what i mean.
I forever had wanted to just buy a little cursive L to place on top of our cake- but Aric was more creative than I was.
He researched online for a while, then we went to Hobby Lobby and bought ourselves some modeling clay. (It's alot easier said than done) That clay did NOT want to cooperate with me, and if it weren't for my sweet, patient husband- I would have never finished mine.
:)
There are several places where you can get custom cake toppers made- (but i'm not gonna lie, they are e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e...so if you're working on a budget and want to have unique cake toppers to show of a little more personality about you and your fiancee then try doing it yourself! :)

so I took a little break from the madness of work today to edit and blog neil & tristen's engagement pictures!
we made a last minute, spur of the moment trip to ft. worth this weekend to see my family and take pictures for neil & tristen! (my family loves it when I do that)
on saturday, Aric, my dad, and brother-in-law Jacob all went to a car show and drooled over all the cars and had some good ol' "guy time"- while me, my mom, my sister, my aunt Davney and the two cutest little girls on the planet (my cousins) went shopping and had some fun "girl time" :).
It was great, then we took Sunday to hang out with Neil & Tristen, shoot some pictures, and explore downtown Ft. Worth on a cloudy, misty, day. So overall, the weekend was perfect. :)
Neil & Tristen are old friends' of Aric's and they are the sweetest couple you will ever meet. We are so excited for them and their upcoming marriage!!
Someone told me that Tristen loves black and white pictures, so there are quite a few more black and white's in this post than I would normally edit-but it was fun!

there is not enough room on this blog to tell you guys how much we just love tina & kevin. their wedding was one that we looked forward to from the first time we met them. and to make a long story short- we actually shed a few tears of our own during their "first look" (it was just that sweet)
this was the first wedding that we worked with Jill Leven from Eat, Drink, and be Marry and hands down she is the best there is at what she does. If you need any help planning your big day, call Jill-she is amazing.
the day flew by smoothly-kevin got locked out of his house, tina couldn't find the jewelry she had chosen to wear for her big day-but really, it's those little things that happen on your wedding day that make it memorable and give you something to talk about for years and years to come.

i can't even begin to tell you, how much fun we had with kelsey and brian for their engagement session. we found a ton of new spots, witnessed a beautiful sunset, and then went out for a double date to pizza afterwards!
besides being tons of fun-they were amazing models. we asked brian on the side while Kelsey was changing outfits if he knew if she had ever modeled before because she was rocking it out! He laughed and said no, I don't think so...but she watches that show project runway all the time!

it was a masterpiece, from the ceremony, the dress and flowers, right down to the reception- table linens, and cake- every detail was beautiful, and perfect - much like their day...

it has seemed like a lifetime since we have gotten to take engagement photos-and this session was a breath of fresh air.
engagements are my favorite... for a few reasons...
but the main reason-is we get to meet and hang out with people like maggie and kurt.
couples-head over heels, happy, in-love, and excited about life...
it's sessions like these-where i get in the car in between locations and want to giggle, hold hands with, and kiss my husband...
and it's perfect...

Maggie & Kurt's love story is probably one of my favorites-but for all you girls out there who love proposal stories...all I have to say is...Kurt proposed in Paris. period. :)

this past weekend we took a little bit of time to try and grab a decent family picture for my sister with her baby Duke-the impossible dog. ;)
He's a little wild and crazy sometimes, and like all dogs-enjoys checking out new surroundings rather than sitting still in front of a camera. It's quite possible that only a handful of the pictures turned out with this guy just doin' his own thing, but when I came across this picture I could NOT resist. I mean really?
Even if we got nothing, the whole shoot was worth it for this one shot!
LOL.
Hope this can put a smile on your face today and give you a reason to laugh a little.

whew.
we just got back home from the lake today, and let me tell you, i think i'm gonna need an extra day off tomorrow just to recover from the weekend... haha-i kid, i kid...mmm, sort of. ;)
in all reality though, the first thing we did when we got home, was edit and fill some orders... now i'm off to cuddle in front of the TV for a bit before bedtime...
what i've learned over the weekend, and a bit of last week- was you always need to take time for yourself. work can get crazy, school can get overwhelming, planning your wedding can be a bit stressful, and you just might think you don't have a minute to spare
-but you do.
so take it.
take some time just for you.
do something that you love.
read a book, write in your journal, go get coffee with some friends, go play in a park, paint a picture, or just get out and drive with the windows rolled down and the music turned up...
whatever it might be, you have time for it-if you'll just take it.
like i said in the last post, last week I got the chance to hang out with some beautiful girls one evening.
just us. our cameras. a beautiful golden sunset. and some sugarbrowns coffee to top it off.
all things that i love.
I've been waiting for some time to hang out with Caitlin for a while, and the time couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Caitlin is probably one of our most faithful blogstalkers, and i just love her to death for that-that, and the fact that she is just a beautiful person inside and out with a heart of gold.
She brought along her best friend (who happens to be my best friend's new sister-in-law) ;) and we just had a good ol' time!
so before i write a novel, here's some of my faves from my time with these beautiful girls!

We're heading out the door for our last mini-vacation of the "summer". My family almost always gathers together at my grandparent's lake house for Labor Day every year, and it's the perfect place to kick back, relax, and enjoy some quality time with each other.
I have several shoots that are dying to be blogged-but yesterday the photoshop on my computer decided to quit on me. lame. so I'll be doing some work while we are gone on Aric's laptop-but I'm excited! I went out this week with some wonderful girls and shot just for the heck of it. like old times. and it was refreshing! (more on this with the full post!)
here's the only image I got edited before photoshop died, so enjoy for now-and there is plenty more where that came from!! :)

I can hardly believe that today is our 1 month anniversary!! ONE MONTH!! I remember counting down the 1 month to get to our wedding- oh how long and agonizing that month felt, and now just like the saying goes- "time flies when you're havin' fun"-the time really is just flying by...
:)
Who knew you could cram pack so much love and laughter and exciting new things into a single month! It's simply a blast to walk through life every single day with your best friend standing right there beside you. We have been learning so much and making a lot of changes around the house and (more exciting for you guys)-the business!! ;)
That's right, change is coming-it's a slow process as we dig deeper to learn more about ourselves, each other, and the reasons the Lord is blessing our business as we trust Him with it...but I can assure you, the outcome will be out of this world AWESOME...and we can't wait to share it with you! :)
But for now, life is sweet. And although it's nowhere near perfect, we count our many blessings every single day and today-as we round out the 1st month of being married-I was thankful for our little toothbrush holder, and the 2 little toothbrushes that it holds... It's a daily reminder for me that I'm beyond lucky to be sharing every single thing in life with my best friend-even the small things-like our toothbrush holder...

So maybe the next time you see your toothbrush holder, you will think to go give your loved one a big hug and kiss and remind them of how thankful you are for them...

i woke up this moring. waaaay earlier than usual. and surprisingly i got out of bed, brushed my teeth, (stayed in my pjs) made some coffee, put some clothes in the washer- and sat down in front of my computer sooooo excited to share the images from stacy and james' engagement session! I mean, let's face it-these two are hott, and during their session, I realized more than I have in a long time how much I love shooting engagement sessions and getting to meet and be a part of so many awesome couple's love stories! From learning how they met and how their romance began, all the way through their wedding day and what their plans are for the future. as a girl, some of my favorite things in the whole wide world are kisses, cuddles, and lots of laughs with my amazing husband...and that's what engagement sessions are all about... We are more than looking forward to stacy & james's wedding next month in Midland-it's gonna be awesome!

it was perfect. simple as that. and even though nothing on earth really is perfect- their day was pretty close to it. i'm always a bit anxious/nervous shooting a wedding with a bride whom i've never met before or never had the chance to shoot before. but kelli and david made me feel right at home.
As her family gushed and glowed over their pride and joy-I could see why. Kelli was beautiful, inside and out. She held a confidence that made everyone around her feel relaxed and important. And her smile shown throughout the day held proof that she was marrying the man of her dreams. That come rain or shine, with David by her side, and the Grace of a Savior-their life journey would be just fine...
Kelli & David's wedding was our first wedding to shoot as a married team! :) And it was a perfect way to start this new chapter. They were married at the GORGEOUS Vintage Villa's in Austin. And we sure wouldn't mind shooting there again!

In the midst of working on getting several blogs together to post about our recent adventures, wonderful shoots, and amazing clients- we received a link to view a slideshow of our own wedding, and I couldn't help but share.
It was a complete and total reality check about the work that we do. We've been shooting weddings for 2 years now, and I knew that the images we captured of others' special day were really special-but until I saw my own-I didn't realize HOW special they are... It's true that your wedding day goes by so fast that you think back on it, and it's a complete blur.
I've told Jason and Andrew (of Table 4 photography) since the beginning, that their images are going to be treasured for a lifetime... They will be a constant reminder of our perfect day, the covenant we made before God and our loved ones, and the Love, Joy, and excitement we share as a couple...
These pictures mean so much to us, and that is why I wanted to share them with ya'll! :)

while we were gone to Mexico, we received an email from a previous client of ours who informed us that one of our pictures made it to a billboard...?!?!?! YES! It's true, You might remember The Katalyst Band from their awesome session here. We had a blast with these guys and when we got the email about them being on a billboard in downtown Nashville we were so excited for them!! (not to mention a little giddy about the idea of one of our images being blown up that huge for a billboard!)

and in other musical news, you might remember Dave (Dunn ;)) from his shoot here. He just finished cutting his second album, and he asked Aric for some help desiging his album cover. So Aric, along with some help from Dave's sister made up an entire CD insert from scratch. (yes, I am bragging on my husband...) It looks so stinkin' cool and Dave will be in Midland at the end of the month for a release show! It's amazing what this photography business has done for our lives. I remember it like it was yesterday when I was sitting in my best friends dorm room saying "I've figured it out. I'm gonna be a photographer." And thinking that she probably thought I was crazy, but she was my best friend and loved and supported me anyway. Fast forward from there, to meeting Aric, having him teach me how to actually use my nice new camera, and following him on all his shoots, to now.
It's given me the opportunity to meet so many new people, and even given me the chance to see and hang out with people I knew from like Jr. High!! And Josh is one of those people. He was in the same grade as my older sister and we went to this tiny little 1A school where everyone knows everyone! :) It was cool to get to see him again and see where life is taking him-and of course get to meet his beautiful fiancee too! They brought along their (ADORABLE) little puppy Brendan and some outfits to show off their love for Texas Tech (Go Raiders!!) and we had a blast shooting with them!

Most of you probably don't know this about me, but I played college basketball for a year at Wayland Baptist University before deciding it just wasn't for me and moving back to Lubbock to go to Tech. It was an interesting year to say the least, but I learned a lot of life lessons and met a lot of really awesome people that year at Wayland-and one of those awesome people was Brandi.
Brandi is the kind of person that everyone wants to be friends with. She's sweet, caring, and fun loving! I always knew that the lucky guy that she would fall in love with would be just as fun and kind as she was- and after meeting Brett, I was not disappointed! These two compliment each other like no one else I know and it was just a joy to be a part of their wedding day.

yessss!!! we are finally home!!!! it feels so good. 2 weeks away is a long time. especially when there are a million things i want to share, and a million more pictures i want to post!!! overwhelmed is the word of the week. :)
but not a bad overwhelmed. a good overwhelmed. i think it will take a couple weeks to get the house situated, wash all the clothes from travel, work through pictures, and just get caught up on work, life, emails, and seeing all the friends we have missed since being gone!
because of the fact that our to-do list is a mile long, blog edits are coming in slower than usual too and I apologize but promise that this blog is coming back to life with lots of wonderful adventures and beautiful pictures to share!!

that's where we have been. and that's where we will be for another week! we are getting married this Saturday the 1st!! We left in such a hurry that we didn't get a chance to set up a automatic email response! So we thank everyone in advance for your patience in our getting back to you! This is the first chance we have had free wireless internet, so just wanted to check in and let everyone know what's goin' on over here!! We will be honeymooning in Mexico until next Thursday, flying home, driving to Austin and shooting a lovely outdoor wedding there before we will be back in the office and back to the daily grind! :)

i sheepishly sat down to my computer to write this blog like a puppy that knows it's in trouble and walks up to you with his tail between his legs and those big puppy dog eyes just begging for forgiveness...
so please do forgive us for the lack of blog posts lately- I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off doing a million different things and it feels like none of it is allowing me to produce any work to show!! :(
and the scariest part is, we are leaving the comfort of our home office for good on Wednesday and won't be back in it until August 10th?!?!?!...

No, I don't have any pictures ready to post-still working on Haley & Ryan's wedding- but I just thought I'd share our excitement!!! Today is the 1 month marker until our wedding and we're SOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

We're also excited to be heading to Dallas tomorrow to pick up Aric's best friend and Best Man to hang out for the weekend, and also shoot a beautiful July 4th golf course wedding while we're up there!! So we will return all phone calls and emails when we get back on Monday!

i have a new appreciation for bridal shoots after I had my own! there you are. in your dress. in THE dress. the one that you will be walking down the aisle in- with your hair done, make-up fixed, veil in place, and you feel like you're on top of the world-then us crazy photographers take you out to the middle of nowhere and ask you to do all sorts of crazy things that you may or may not want to do in your gown. :)
but you do it anyway, and the pictures turn out better than you could have ever imagined (speaking from my own experience at least ;))
i do love bridals though. they are fun. they are an awesome opportunity to spend more time with our brides (and usually get to know their moms) and above all-our brides are stinkin' beautiful so it makes our job pretty darn easy.

seriously-this was our first "first look" of the summer, and I'm more in love with them than I was before. haley and ryan JUST ADORE each other. and there is no other word to describe it than the word- adore. you can see it in the way they look at each other, they way they smile at each other, the way they touch each other, they way they speak to one another. and it's beautiful. simply beautiful.
and i don't think any other pictures from their day reveal this adoration as much as these from their first look...

she fell in love with dance, and she knew that when she found a good lead, she would be able to follow...

well. she found him. and dean is the best lead i could have ever thought up in my own head for my very best friend. these two hold a very special place in my heart, and their wedding day was one that i will remember for years and years to come! i've never been more a part of a wedding since my own sister's 2 years ago, & it meant the world to me that i got to be there with them through everything!

i've been trying to write this post for a full day now, and nothing that i can put into words is sufficient for describing brooke and dean and their love for one another.

so i'll just leave you with a glimpse into the story of their wedding day...

Petals in Plainview did an AMAZING job with all the flowers!! Seriously! They are outstanding! I would recommend them to anyone and everyone planning their wedding. They are some of the sweetest ladies ever too!!

remember Brooke's Hot Pink boots from her bridal session? Well now they having matching boots...this was Dean's wedding present... :)

they are high school sweethearts who are just as in love now as they were then. he talked about the proposal... "you think it would be easy, and she thinks that just because we have been together for so long that i shouldn't be nervous...but i was sweating!!"
that's when you know you have found true love. when, even after all the time of being with each other...you can still get butterflies in your stomach.
unfortunately the weather cut our shooting time in half, so we will be going out again in the next couple of weeks to finish up, but for now enjoy some of our favorites from the first go 'round!!

i am blessed.
some days, when i actually take the time to look up from my desk and look around at all the blessings in my life-i can hardly believe it. i get so busy just going, going, going, that i hardly take the time to step back and let it all sink in.
thankfully, the Lord has blessed me with a partner for life-that reminds me of all of those things.
although, he's done his fair share of BIG things throughout our relationship-it's the small things that i love the most.
Don't get me wrong here! I'm a sucker for the scavenger hunt proposal, the surprise salsa dancing lessons, the flowers on the hood of my car when I get to it in the morning...just because, the midnight run to get a slurpee on my birthday, the surprise of winning me a spot at Love Affair with the making of a giant engagement ring out of a tractor tire...(the list goes on...)

all that stuff is almost unbelievable to me at times...but it's the small stuff that really gets me. The fixing me lunch before class because i got too caught up in editing the last wedding that i ran out of time to do it myself, the "i miss you" text messages i receive approximately 10 minutes after leaving his house, the voice on the other end of the line that answers "YAAAY!!!!" instead of just "hey", the dance moves that he knows will always make me laugh, the "I'm sorry" after a disagreement, and the "I love you's" any time, all the time...

well...we've got another one to add to the list of big things- :)
sunday, our dear friend brittany took some bridal pictures for me! i showed up to her house with my mom, the gown on, make-up done, hair ready, and veil in hand. brit walked out of her house holding something fluffy and white-and proceeded to tell me that she had been Aric's head model for the last couple hours and that Aric had made me a birdcage veil.

*I had been planning to have 2 veils for our wedding (the traditional, and then a fun birdcage for the reception) but couldn't find a birdcage that worked for me, so I gave up. But Aric had not. He was determined to get me what I wanted-and ladies and gentlemen...he did.

we are still recovering from this last wedding. i've never been so a part of a wedding in my entire life. best friend duties are way harder than photographer duties-and being both just about killed me. :). i kid. but really, i loved every part of brooke and dean's wedding and we are so thankful that these two lovebirds are in our life!! they are on their top secret honeymoon adventure right now-and i just want to wish you guys all the best!! we love you both!!

she sat in his usual seat.
and that's pretty much all it took to bring these two together. after many late nights talking about just about EVERYTHING...or sometimes talking about nothing at all, OU football, date nights, and getting to know each other's family- they both knew they were meant for each other. "when we could just sit there, side by side, not having to talk about anything-just be with one another..." that's when they knew.
their wedding was a momentous occasion. aric and i loved being there for every part of it. and every part was perfect. I feel like I know their love story backwards and forwards from all the many questions we asked them about it! but that's what our job is all about-documenting people's love stories. joe and melanie are extraordinary people with an intense desire to love. love each other. love friends. love family. even love strangers. and the source of their love is obvious. and beautiful.

he said she blew him off. she said he had a girlfriend....whatever the reason-the first time these two met wasn't going to be the last. two years later, they met again...and the rest is history. simple as that. call it fate. call it destiny. they were meant to be together, and it's obvious for anyone to see. whether it's the way he makes her laugh, or the look she gets on her face when he draws her near- their interaction reflects pure and utter adoration for one another-and it was simply breathtaking to witness on the other side of our cameras!
aric and i had the best time hanging out with these two! so much so, we ended up making a double date out of our outing and took them to aric's favorite restaurant Dion's for the very first time! kevin is even an accountant so he gave us all sorts of good information about our taxes! ;)

wedding invitations | and more

ah, it seems i have neglected this poor little blog for an entire week! I do apologize. Aric and I were taking full advantage of our last free weekend until our wedding (?!?!?! CRAZY!!) and then we had some family stuff come up at the beginning of the week-so I want to thank you all for your kind words and prayers- and your graciousness while giving us patience to get back to all the phone calls and emails! :)
I finally got around to taking some pictures of our wedding invitations to share with you all! :) i'm not gonna lie-it took us entirely too long to pick these out! I guess it's all the creative vibes in both of us that we simply could not decide what we wanted! (too many ideas, and still trying to keep the costs down!) so that is where Hodge Podge came into the picture. We love that little place now! we spent several afternoons there, bugging the sweet girls that work there with our indecisiveness... but they were patient, and they were so good about spending the time with us to know exactly what we wanted...
long story short-I would highly recommend going to hodge podge for any of your invitation needs! they do a wonderful job! Here are a couple pics of our invitations...they are simple and sweet-and i freakin' love them! :)

yes i do realize this is just an envelope-but its the perfect shade of sparkly green, and it turns out-it matches our flower girl dresses perfectly!

in other news, we got our last senior album in last week so I took a few pictures of that too! i love these little albums! They are perfect for seniors, kids, families, bridals or even engagements! (i'm seriously thinking about ordering a huge one for aric and i...)

and just for fun-since my parents TRIED to make me swear up and down that I would not post any pictures that I took of them on the internet-I had to show you internet world just how stinkin' adorable my parents are! i love them dearly, and i just don't think love emmulates itself in a picture much better than this... one of these days i will talk them in to letting me take them out for a shoot that lasts longer than 5 minutes-but for now, internet meet my parents. :)

wedding season is officially gearing up for us this weekend!! and we are more than excited to be kicking it off with Joe and Melanie's wedding!!! It's gonna be beautiful, I just know it!!!! So be looking for that and another engagement session on the blog next week!!

we've been trying to plan brandi and brett's engagement shoot for a couple months now! we had a date all set in April, then the weather moved Brett's baseball games so that fell through. The next date they had picked out-we ended up already having a shoot out of town, and when Tuesday of this week rolled around we thought we were gonna have to reschedule again because, well...Lubbock was covered in thunderstorms.
We went back and forth debating on what we should do up until about 5:00 then decided to head to Plainview to shoot instead. It's always a little scary/exciting/intimidating shooting in a new town-but the results are always fun!
Brandi and Brett are adorable. They just have fun spirits and they were always making each other laugh. After the shoot we ended up going out for dinner on a little double date and it was so much fun. We're so looking forward to their wedding next month at the Botanical Gardens in Amarillo!! :)

the first look | why?

if you were to ask me a year ago if i would ever consider seeing aric before the actual wedding ceremony and walking down the aisle...i would have said NO FREAKING WAY.
after all-isn't that like THE moment you have been waiting for your whole entire life? To see the man of your dreams standing at the alter waiting for you-and even more than that- seeing HIS FACE when he sees you, his bride, for the very first time in your white wedding gown looking as beautiful as ever... yep-that's THE moment. it's the one we envision as little girls and dream about every single day until that day that it actually happens.
So if that is THE moment, why in the world would anyone think it would ever be a good idea to have that moment-before the ceremony?

well, i'll tell you why! ;)
1. My number one argument for the first look is OBVIOUSLY- the pictures are way better! :) There's no garauntee that capturing the picture of his face when he sees you is going to be easy. Some venues won't even let us on the ground level or we are simply too far away and although you may get the experience for that split second-without the photos of it-you won't remember it 10 years from now. When we set up a first look we always try to choose locations with the best possible light-for the best possible pictures. period.

2. The first look (at least in my opinion) is 10 times more intimate than having that first look in front of 300 of your wedding guests. Chances are, his look will be more genuine. He will be more expressive knowing that you are the only one seeing him (and not all 300 family, friends, or people he doesn't even know)

3. The first look gives you pretty much the ONLY alone time you will have with your groom on your wedding day-(besides after the wedding, of course) It's the one chance to see him, have him see you, and then actually get to sit down, talk a little, and relax some before the rest of the day unfolds. HELLO--you don't get to talk to him and hear what he has to say about how darn BEAUTIFUL you look when you are standing at the altar...I'm just sayin'...

4. We get to take all the formal portraits before the ceremony; therefore, leaving you and your guests the freedom to head straight to your reception without having to wait around on getting pictures taken. It takes pounds of stress off of everyone's shoulders (including your photographers!) :)

5. Just because you have a first look- doesn't mean that when he sees you for the first time walking down the aisle is any less special. You still get that moment. And you get to experience it with less stress, less expectation-which makes it that much sweeter. It's a win/win situation.

That is why-Aric and I are going to see each other before our wedding ceremony!! It's actually one of the things I'm looking forward to most about our wedding day. I can't wait to hear what he has to say about how I look in my dress. I can't wait to get to hug him and kiss him (without a million pairs of eyes on us) and just as importantly-I can't wait to look back at the pictures of his face when he sees me for the first time...
We will never force our clients to do this, we understand the whole "traditional" thing, and we will respect that- but we will highly recommend this because-well-we've seen it. and we know that it works. I have yet to meet a bride that has regretted taking the first look, I've only ever heard great things about it. So there you go-that's my little insight on the first look-take it or leave it... :)

hopefully i'm not scaring all of you with these midnight posts on friday and saturday nights! LOL. I promise I do have a life other than sitting at home on the weekend and working!
its been a slow week, and with aric out of town this weekend i've had a lot of free time on my hands and i simply do not know what to do with myself! :)

i've been evaluating life in my downtime lately. and its been sweet.
with photography-i feel like its easy to get into a rut, to feel uninspired or like you are taking the exact same picture over and over again. i feel that way often. i want so badly to use my photos to inspire hope and excitement in people, and when i'm not feeling it myself-i feel like i'm letting you all down. it can be a constant battle, but as i struggle through it im learning more and more about where my inspiration comes from and frankly- it's simple.
it's simplicity. it's real. it's beauty. it's honesty. it's passion. it's love.
and it's looking for and finding those things in each new person i meet and in each new challenge i face.

tonight was the last "girls night out" with my best friend before she becomes a MRS.! she is also the bride who's pictures i cannot share with you until after June 20th so instead enjoy some photos i snapped of her tonight while we were hanging out. i tried to edit each picture differently and never use the same action twice-i'd love to hear what you think...

*****and one last thing-i was thinking about doing a weekly...or maybe bi-weekly before and after with at least one picture and share some different steps i take to edit different pictures. several of my favorite photographers do this and i love it-so just curious if anyone would even be remotely interested!!-(leave a comment and let me know!!!) :)

sorry for the lack of posts lately. we took our last mini-vacation last week before my summer school started and weddings got crazy, and this week Aric has been designing a ton of albums all week, and i've been pre-editing the beautiful wedding from the post before this and some bridals that (sadly) i can't share with you all yet so i've been neglecting our poor blog a bit.

aric is in denver for the weekend to be a groomsman in his friend Shane's wedding. (who by the way is an awesome graphic designer...just fyi :)) so i'm house-sitting for the weekend which is dangerous because i've been redecorating the whole house so hopefully he doesn't kill me when he gets home! LOL Just trying to get it ready for me to move in, in August!! ;)

soon i'll post the before and after pictures of our office that we are in the process of making! woo hoo!!

anyway-there's really not much point to this blog except to say hey. i've been playing around with black and whites a lot lately and have decided that I love them. I have yet to find the perfect action, or the perfect set of steps to take in photoshop to make the perfect black and white but it's been fun trying! ;)

wedding days for aric and I are somewhat bittersweet. the day is a whirlwind of excitement, anticipation, a few tears, and tons of laughter...then when its all said and done we're a bit sad to say goodbye to the couples (and their families) that we have grown to love and care about. i feel like I talk a lot about the wedding process and getting to interact with our clients-but for me, that's why our job is all about, and i truly consider so many of our clients real friends after the wedding day is done.

kaci and chris met in college. what began as a friendship grew into a mutual adoration for one another and the rest is history. she jokes that he just couldn't stay away...and he doesn't deny it. they married at the beautiful old Methodist church downtown and had their reception at a new venue called The Legacy. they're wedding day was perfect. and yes, we were sad to say goodnight to them, but so excited for them to get to start their lives together!

kaci, if you ever want to go play around with your camera and take some pictures- i would totally love to go with you! LOL

These two are getting married in November-and we simply cannot wait to shoot their wedding. Last Sunday we took them out for their engagement pictures and we had a blast!! We got to chat about their wedding, what's coming up for them in the next few months, and their plans after marriage...we talked about how they met and found out that scotty has an impecable abililty to make paige laugh until her stomach hurts.
They both graduated from Tech with their Pharmacy degree the day before their session so they were all smiles!

This past weekend Aric and I went to albuquerque to hang out with his family and meet with the pastor that will be marrying us in Mexico for some marriage counseling!!! :)
It was amazing.
We have been reading a book together called "Sacred Marriage" by Gary Thomas and man oh man is it rockin' our world. I would highly recommend it to anyone I know. Whether you are engaged, newlyweds, or have been married for 25 years-it's an awesome resource for understanding the divine purpose of marriage! :)

We are so stinkin' blessed to know such amazing people-couples-who take time out of their busy schedules to just sit with us and teach and encourage us on the exciting time ahead of us!! The discussion was so rich with truth the first night that we decided to bring along a tape recorder the second night!! LOL!
Besides that beautiful time of learning and growing- we also got some wedding planning done!! Woo HOO!! I feel so lost half the time, I have no idea what I'm doing- and with my family and best friend so far away with busy lives- Aric has been the biggest help through it all.
We've still got mounds of details to work out- and time is passing so quickly!! (Only 81 days till our wedding!!) But many of our clients are always asking about our own wedding process while we are trying to be as involved as we can with theirs- so we decided we would share more about our wedding planning through the blog-and every once in a while I'm positive I will have to enlist your help in making some decisions! :)
So here are the basics:
We are getting married August 1st, 2009!!
Location: Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico!! (on the beach)

Invitations: Hodge-Podge Design (more on this later!)
Colors: Purple and Green!! (my favorite colors!)
I've got my dress, and Aric got his suit this weekend! ;)

Ever meet one of those people, where you just have to say their first and last name together- EVERY time you talk about them? For me, those people are usually a friend of a friend, or an acquaintance, or even my best friends' high school crush...and for some reason I just can't say their name without adding on their last name too.
That's how it is for me with Dave. Aric calls him Dave. He'll get off the phone and start going on and on- "Well Dave did this, or Dave wants to do that." And I always have to correct him- "You mean Dave Dunn?" Maybe that's because before Aric ever really introduced me to Dave, I only knew him as "David Dunn - The musician." David Dunn-the guy who played music at Sugarbrowns, or the guy who all my friends seemed to have a crush on.
Even after knowing him as Dave for a couple years now- I still have to call him by his first and last name. It may take a couple more photoshoots before I'll be able to call him by his first name only. :)
Besides that weird little quirk I have, Dave is an amazingly talented musician. The first month I owned his CD I didn't take it out of my car stereo- and anytime Aric and I take a roadtrip to see our families- we usually pop his CD in for part of the drive. He's amazing. And I don't think he has a shy bone in his body. Ask him to sing for you, and he'll do it. On the spot. (Which was amazing for us, because we got our own little private concert during his photoshoot!) :)

any time ice cream is involved in my life- things are good. I'm kind of an addict. I LOVE my ice cream. I could eat it every day of the week and never get sick of it. So when the ice cream man came strolling around the corner during haley and ryan's shoot-i knew it was going to be a GREAT shoot. Especially when the sweet groom-to-be offers to buy some ice cream for his bride. mmm, priceless.
Aric and I had a blast shooting this session. We found ALL new locations, and the light was beautiful yesterday evening, and haley and ryan were just fun spirits to be around!
I think the pictures of them truly reflect their love for one another. They compliment each other like no one I've ever met and they are absolutely smitten! We're so excited to be a part of their wedding day next month! It is truly going to be a love-filled day!!

It's a small world after all. That annoying little tune always plays in my head when we finally meet our clients face to face for the first time before a shoot. It never fails-our clients are awesome. And it never fails- that we share many common interests, and were meant to be best friends in another life. Aric knows his best friend, or went to the high school across town from her, or we run around in the same circle of friends but just have never met, etc., etc. We love our job. And meeting people like Brittany and Nick are the reasons why we love it so much. He's a marketing major at Tech (so was Aric), She's and English major hoping to use her talents to help others through non-profit work (that's what I wanted to do before photography came along). These two are truly genuine people and it's easy to see after just a few hours with them that they adore each other. They showed up to their shoot each with their pair of TOMS Shoes so we knew right from the start we were going to hit it off with them! (If you remember, Aric & I wore our TOMS for our engagement pictures too!)
When we asked them what they liked to do they both said they liked to be outdoors-so we trecked through the woods and grass downtown for some good outdoorsy pictures to start off with!

Anyone who knows me will tell you- I have a photographer/girl crush on Jasmine Star. She's an amazingly talented photographer based out of California and I stalk her blog every day- waiting for beautiful new pictures and honest, poetic words that she writes her blogs with.
Just last week she wrote a blog and posted some pictures of her twin sister and I thought to myself as I was reading it- that sounds just like me and my sister!!!
She spoke of the perfection that seemed to embody itself in her sister while she was left with none of those good attributes. And that's my sister for you.
She's beautiful. Inside and out. With the most loving, caring, giving heart anyone could ever have. Talk about having it all...she was the straight-A student, the captain of the basketball team, a leader in our youth group, and the list goes on and on...
I always wanted to grow up and be just like her. But so far all my trying to hasn't gotten me anywhere. She still has to remind me when Mom and Dad's birthday's are, and when she buys a gift she puts my name on it too-she's always looking out for me even when I don't deserve it!

When I initially wanted to become a photographer- I wanted to do it-to make people feel beautiful. I wanted to allow girls to be super models, and guys to be rock stars and give them an excuse to laugh a whole lot!!!
This past weekend Lyndsay came down for one of my showers...and I took the opportunity to take her out on her own little "mini" shoot to make her feel beautiful too.
Seriously though- I'll let the pictures do the talkin!

Finding a good hairstylist is like finding pure gold for some girls. I really never used to care much about my hair, I'd go through cycles of growing it out and then cutting it off and growing it back out again. But mostly I kept my hair long, so getting it cut and styled was never a huge deal. For my sister, though, things were different. She needed a good hairstylist...ALWAYS. So when she met Crystal for the first time it was love at first cut. She drives back all the way from Dallas still just to have Crystal cut/color and style her hair. So like any good sister does, I stole her secret from her and starting having Crystal cut my hair too!

Basically, she's a miracle worker. And she's the sweetest person you will ever meet, so combine those two attributes and you've got yourself someone you want to call a friend.

When Crystal told us a couple months back that she was going to have a little baby, my immediate reaction was...WHO's gonna cut my hair??!?!?!?! LOL But after she assured me that she would be back after the little one was born I was much more excited!

Aric has taken an oath swearing to never do maternity sessions-but I just couldn't resist-I told Crystal I wanted to take some pictures of her and her adorable little baby bump! And last week, we finally made the time to take her out for a fun little maternity session.

And can we all agree...that baby Tucker is going to have the hottest mom on the block?! ;)

Crystal brought some fun props, and she even brought her current babies-her two puppies! I loved the way this session turned out!

From the moment we met with Kaci and her mom to talk about wedding packages, I knew she was gonna be a blast!! We spent 2 days last week hanging out and photographing Kaci for her bridal and engagement pictures and first impressions do mean something! Because we had a blast!! We laughed pretty much the whole time we were shooting. Kaci has the most awesome laugh, and Chris certainly knows how to make her laugh! We are so excited to be a part of their wedding day next month!! The day is going to be beautiful, and we have already witnessed Kaci is going to be a beautiful bride!!! Can't wait to share the bridal portraits with you all!!

Have you ever met those kind of people-that are just happy? You know, they laugh, and smile, and make you feel like the world isn't such a bad place after all?
Well that's how I felt when we met Melissa and Andrew. They are happy. And in love. And getting to be a part of their love story is one of the most exciting things for Aric & I.
From the way Andrew looks at Melissa you can tell how much he adores her, and it's plain to see that the adoration is mutual.
We met up with these two for their engagement session in downtown Fort Worth the day after Jeanie and Justin's session. They both work at XTO Energy (where both of my parents work!! cool!) so we started at the XTO office building and then found some cool places around there. Right next door to the office building there is a huge piece of property where the TV show Prison Break has been filmed before. It was so cool inside...too bad all the gates were locked and the no trespassing signs were everywhere! Oh well...
We are shooting their wedding on July 4th at a BEAUTIFUL golf course in Keller and we can't wait!!

For those of you that don't know, Aric used to work at a bank. He worked there for about a year trying to get this business up and running and we count our blessings every day that we get to do the job that we love so much, and people actually pay us to do it!?!?! It's amazing.
Anyway, while Aric was working there he met Justin. For a couple months straight, I would see him after work and he would always have some hilarious story to tell about Justin. The two of them seemed to find plenty of things to entertain themselves with during what most would call, "boring" and long days at work.
We were ecstatic when he and Jeanie asked us to take their engagement photos for them! They both live in Dallas now, so we decided to meet them up there for their session. They took us to this really cool business park in Las Colinas and it was beautiful!! Lots of trees and water and architecture. Then we ended the shoot at an aloft hotel, which is a division of W Hotels-and it was awesome, full of really modern and funky furniture and decor!
It was a little uncomfortable not being "at home" in West Texas with the familiar downtown area, but we have proven that we can shoot in the "big city" too!! :)

So, last week, we had Paige's senior session scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
If you were anywhere near Lubbock, TX on Thursday, then you might remember the beautiful sunshining morning and the calm breezes around lunchtime, or you may remember the rain and the hail of the early afternoon, and the tornado warnings in the evening...
Needless to say, we rescheduled her shoot for the following Friday morning! And obviously, it was well worth the wait.
Paige is a gorgeous Senior from Lubbock High, who just recently got accepted to The University of Texas Business College-which I hear is kinda, sorta, really, a lot amazing! So basically this girl has it all, beauty and brains! She was a fabulous model and we had a blast hangin' out with her during our shoot!

Hello again Blog world!!
We are alive!!!!!! I (Casey) (Sorry, I just feel like I confuse people sometimes so I want to make it clear who's talking here! LOL) Anyway, I have just 2 weeks left of my Spring semester so things are getting crazy. Lots of final projects wrapping up, and papers due, and tests to study for-Plus we were out of town this weekend in Dallas shooting some FUN engagment sessions! (which i promise to blog this week!)
But I am pleased to introduce you to Kaci. This beautiful girl is a senior at Whiteface High School! We had a great time spending the afternoon with her, her mom, and her two little puppies!! I love it when our clients bring props or pets to their shoots!! Kaci and her mom swore to us before the shoot started that Kaci was more quirky and fun than serious...and this was true. She was definitely fun, and up for anything- but we got the serious side to come out of her! Her mom said she's the only one out of the family that got those beautiful blue eyes and long legs- and ain't that the truth!!

can I just use this post as a platform to brag on my fiancee for a minute?...
Last week when we took Laiken out for her pictures, I was NOT feelin' so hot. And then I was really bummed because Laiken was such a beautiful girl and she was a natural model in front of the camera- I mean come on, look at her!- A lot of the time, since I (Casey) do all the posting and a lot of the post-processing on our images I tend to blog a lot of MY favorites that I shot of the session. lol.
well this post is ALL Aric. all except for 2 or 3 of these images were taken by Aric- and can we all just agree here, that he TOTALLY rocked this session?! I was thankful that day that we both shoot together at every session because just when I was about to cry that I felt so bad and wasn't gonna get to shoot much of Laiken- he let me take a break and took control of the shoot.
Laiken is a Senior at Plainview High School. Spending the day with her and her mom was so much fun. Her mom just beamed with pride as she talked about her, and she said the sweetest things about our work!

I'm so, so, so, so, so excited to share these with you all!! Yesterday Aric & I had our engagement pictures taken by the ever so fabulous Lauren Clark!!

We officially have a new found understanding of all our couples and seniors when we take you guys out for your pictures. We were ridiculously nervous. We couldn't decide what to wear. We couldn't decide what would match. Aric couldn't decide whether to shave his head or not. I couldn't decide how to fix my hair or wear my make-up... you see where I'm heading with this.

I'm always amazed at how our clients are like pros in front of the camera. They always make it look so easy. But I'm here to tell you, it's tough being a model!

Aric & I had a blast yesterday. We got to cuddle, and kiss, and laugh, and be models for the day and it was so fun. We hope that all of our couples have as good a time during their session as we did in ours!

Lauren is amazing! She and her work have been one of the biggest inspirations in our journey through building our business. Her work is always so colorful, so fun, and so stylish! (all things that we love and strive to accomplish with our own work)

We love the pictures so much, and can't wait to get one...(or a few?) blown up on canvas to put in our new home in a few months!

Can I just say. We have the coolest seniors around! This year has been so full of new and exciting things for Aric & I and our senior sessions have been some of the most exciting! We joke every time we go out on a senior shoot about the fact that our own senior pictures were taken in a "family photo" type setting. LOL. (Mmm...Not that there's anything wrong with that...) I'm surrounded by beautiful people. Beautiful on the outside, yes, but even more beautiful on the inside. I love photography. That one simple word has brought so much to my life it's crazy. Photography is how I met Aric, it's how I fell in love with the job I will be pursuing for the rest of my life, it's how I've gotten to travel to places I've never been before...and it's how I've met some of the most awesome women in the world.

Me & a couple other young photographers started having a "girls night", "photo night", whatever you want to call it about once every two weeks or so.

These girls are a blast. They are funny. Talented. Beautiful. Sweet. Smart.... They have it all. And it's just a blessing to be around them.

So last week we decided that instead of getting dinner, or ice cream that we should have a photoshoot for our meeting instead. (duh!) Everyone was so nervous. I mean, we're supposes to be BEHIND the camera for pete's sake- not in front of it!!!! But it was a blast-we each took our turn in front of the camera and I'm here to say that I ended up being the most awkward! LOL but it was fun anyway- and miraculously these girls got some good shots of me (I told you they were talented!)

hello blog friends! Sorry for the delay in blog posts!! April is officially going to be a crazy month for us!! But it's all very exciting!! Today is our 4 month mark!! In exactly 4 months we will be getting married!!! :) YAY!!

We'll be spending April doing lots of senior sessions, traveling a little, gearing up for May and the start of our crazy summer wedding season, and I'll be finishing up my last full semester of school!!! (woo hoo!!)

Our weekend is booked solid with shoots so we'll have plenty to blog next week!!

For now, here are a few pictures I took of our orchids! (Aric loves these flowers, and last time we were in Ikea he bought himself one. We thought for sure it was a goner during the Winter months, then, miraculously one day it had a ton of little buds and it's been blooming these amazing flowers ever since!!

Meet Macy.
Macy is a Senior at Frenship High School this year, and as much as I would love to let these pictures of her speak for themselves I just can't help but add my input!! Not only is she unbelievably beautiful! But she's got a personality is just as beautiful! From the moment we received Macy's email about her senior pictures we knew that she was going to be special! I don't think I've ever met another client who was so excited about their session! Needless to say-Macy will undoubetdly go down in the history books as one of our favorite sessions to date! I mean, you just can't help but have a little fun, and laugh... A LOT with this girl around! I had to force myself away from editing her pictures last night because I loved too many! It was so very hard to narrow it down to just these few...(and it's actually a very long post)! Macy will be heading to Tech next year!! (Go Raiders!) and she plans on studying broadcast journalism!!

Good greif!! It's been way too long since this blog has seen some action!!! So sorry for our delay in blog postings...The week before last, I was finishing up midterm in all my classes, and then last week was spring break so it's been a little crazy around here! But we're back now! And hard at work dishin' out photo's and sessions and all that jazz! I know it's been a while, but I'm sure you guys remember Alissa's teaser! We absolutely loved hanging out with Alissa during her session. She was just as genuine and down to earth as you can get! AND, she's a blast to be around!! She'll be heading out to Nashville soon and we wish her all the luck in the world!! Just from spending a few short hours with her, it's obvious that this girl is beautiful inside and out! We just know she's gonna go far!!!

music just so happens to be one of those passions of mine that runs a very tight second to photography. in fact, i can hardly get in my car, sit down to edit, or study without turning on some tunes. I adore the creative, emotional, and personal aspects that go into making music and creating an identity as a band. So having the opportunity to be a part of that process has been most exciting for me.

Jordan, Will, Ryan, Steven, and Seth make up the Katalyst band! Aric & I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable group of guys to work with. They were all true gentlemen, and they kept us laughing the entire shoot. These guys are in Nashville as we speak hanging out and getting to play in a showcase down there!! (COOL!!) So we wish them all the luck while they are down there.

James is one of Aric's oldest friends. I remember the first time I met him, he was the sweetest and craziest person I thought I had ever met! ;) Aric has only ever spoken of James with the highest of opinions, and when he found out that James was proposing to Emily, he couldn't stop telling me how happy he was for him, and how much he deserved her.
We spent our entire Valentine's day this year with these two, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. It was just a blast, and I'm sure you can tell from the pictures that there was a ton of laughing involved in our day! :)
These two are getting married in Mexico in May!!! Talk about our kind of couple! Be sure that we will be calling them up in a few months for some pointers on planning a destination wedding!
